Rodeen's first field trip!

So my son has been growing up and I have been feeling guilty all this time of not having time to update my blog. Then I opened my eyes one day and 5 months is gone without me actually write what is going on in my mind and in his life, all the sweet stories about him, etc! So I stop rambling on telling you how much is unwritten and I just start writing as quick as I can. Capturing the events as it happened today!

uh uh but I gotta tell you about this. This one is huge and I meant to write about it months ago. I cannot tell you when it actually happened :(  I think Rodeen was only 19 months old ... he was new in the toddler room and one day, one of the teachers from another class told me: "Did you know that Rodeen was such a gentleman yesterday?" I said no. How come? She told me that Rodeen was holding the hand of one of his friends (a girl) and as he was holding her hand, he was opening the doors for her! She said he was so cute doing that and she told everyone that this is what we should teach boys in school hehehe
Me? Of course I had that big proud green on my face that meant "yeah! that is My son" hehehehehe

Then the other story just popped up in my crazy busy mind: Rodeen was wearing a shirt that says "one day I will be famous" on it. I loved this green shirt and the sentence, not just because it was my sister's gift mailed for Rodeen as his New Year gift but I just loved the sentence. So we entered the daycare and almost everyone who knew him said "Awww, you are already famous Rodeen" :)) Isn't that sweet to hear? That melts every mom's heart. Isn't that great that people in his daycare have this understanding to say things like that to a toddler? there were great. But then something happened and we decided that it is the time to switch his daycare. Long story. I will write about it soon. It is in my "must write about" list!

On the growing up part, he is very much into farms these days. He cannot get enough of zoo or farm animals. Luckily there are lots of farms around us. He has a  Barney in the farm cartoon that he almost watches it everyday! Every time he sees anything that looks like a cottage (made of wood or sliding) and has a red or yellowish colour he thinks it is a farm house! Every where he sees a farm field, he says "old MacDonald had a farm!" meaning that this farm is like the farm that old MacDonald has ... as if oldMacDonald is his uncle hahaha He feels very close to that subjects. and of course he expects to sees cows and horses on every farm field. A few days ago he sang the whole ABCD song and he some times sang all different songs for us in the car all of a sudden when he is in the mood LOL. He knows old MacDonald song, the wheels on the bus song, Aroosake Ghashange man (in Farsi), Asbe sefidam (in Farsi), and he has the most beautiful calming voice when he sings the lullaby song for me ... patting on my hair ... putting my big head on his small soft feeds ... he sings all the tunes very correctly as he starts with Gonjeshk LaLa ... Sanjab Lala ... LaLaLaLaee .... oh too bad we cannot record his voice. As soon as I start recording his voice, he either stops singing or he want to grab the camera, or smartphone and the whole performing will be ruined ...
And he talks in Farsi and English ... in short sentences but he is able to communicate what he means. Now a days he is learning the concept of time and he refers to all the times in the past as "dirooz" (yesterday). So cute so cute ... and the way he says is so cute as if he knows it happened it the past and he still remembers it ....
And oh! the other thing ... he is at the "what is" stage ... cannot tell you when it started exactly but could be a couple of months ago. About 2 weeks ago I found out that he wants more detailed information as he was not satisfied by our short simple answers to his "what is this, what is that" questions. He was pointing at a big new building around the corner of our street and was asking what is this? I answered it is a building. A big house. He asked again "noooo! what is this?" I said "umm ... this? oh it is a bus in front of the building" ... he still was pointing to the same spot asking "nooooo! what is this?" I did not know what else to say and all of a sudden I started a long complete description about that building ... "oh! this is a retirement house. It is for older people. They live here because they have a cook in the building and that bus is to take them to shopping when they need to" .... to my surprise, I learned that when I am talking he is quiet and calm, and just listening. So I continued telling him all I knew about that building. I told him that old people need to have a doctor close by and etc. At the end, he said "uhum" in a super cute way as if he understood all I said and he was very satisfied :)) So I learned my lesson. The other day he was pointing at a big truck (he is into trucks, and trains as well) that was driving in front of us and asked what is this? I said it is a big truck (his favourite!) He repeated the question losing his patience ... of course he knew it is a big truck ... so I said "OOOh, that! It is a big truck caring a ladder on the roof top .... do you know why there is a scarf at the end of the ladder? It is a signal for the other cars to see the ladder ... do you know why they put the ladder on the rood? because it does not fit into the car and .." blah blah blah I continued. With every sentence he was saying "uhum" that is having a conversation with someone who understands :))

Oh boy! I really don't want to miss anything. I should remember these days. His voice. His behaviour. His cute way of trying to tick us. Like every night when he wants his daddy to give him a hug and carry him around the room until he falls sleep (like his baby times) he says "I need to burp"!

So, tomorrow is my son's first day in his new daycare. He is in junior preschool room!!! Man! I still cannot believe that. You feel the quick fly of the time when you have a child. He is only 27 months old but we felt that he is so ready for this classroom. He is a independent smart child and enjoys playing with bigger kids. So we decided now that we are changing his daycare he can join this class a few months earlier rather than changing the class again. Plus he was kind of the senior in his previous toddler room and it was getting boring for him! We hope that he learns more from the bigger kids, they are mostly toilet trained and Rodeen loved to imitate! :)
On Monday he had a half day visit to his new daycare with his dad and today he had a full day visit with me. They had a field trip with train. They all lined up and hold a rope that the teacher was holding it, walked about 15 minutes to the train station, had a round trip with the choo-choo train and had their lunch (sandwiches, carrots, cucumber and grapes) on the train. Had lots of fun and bet they learned a lot. Got their tickets and waved at all the people along the road. Here, I say no more, I attach some pictures.

Life is crazy busy and super fun with you Rodeen. As I tell you every night, I love you head to toe. You are my little one.

P.S.1: For friends in Iran, I avoid listening to the news however I know what is going on. Part of me always feels guilty sitting here enjoying what should be the basic of life for everyone in the world, yet knowing that it is a dream for lots of people in my home country. Don't you think I don't care.

P.S.2: This post is written after a long tiring day. There was a non-stop crying child in Rodeen's daycare who did not sleep during the nap time and was not letting other kids sleep either. For some reason I looked into her eyes and she pointed at me and long story short, she only wanted to sit in my lap! I offered to hold her. She was quiet as long as she was in my lap. I was rubbing her back and I would not dare to move! Then Rodeen would not go to sleep of course because I am HIS mommy. He also wanted to sit in my lap. So anyhow, he did not sleep. But my dear son is such a gentleman and he understood the situation and let the crying kid sit in his mommy's lap and even started to entertain her. I ended up with a headache and .... anyhow, I am tired. Please correct my typos :) Thanks!
